WHB
(Wicked Hathern Bitter) 3.8%ABV:
A
light tasting, session bitter, with a dry palate and
good hop aroma. |

Soar
Head 4.8%ABV:
(the
river Soar runs alongside the village) A dark ruby
bitter having a complex rich fruit taste and a mellow
aroma.

Hawthorn
Gold: 4.5%ABV:
(Hathern
derives from the Saxon word for the hawthorn which
was prevalent in the village) A light golden, easy
drinking summer beer with a good balance of hops and
malt. |

Doble's
Dog: 3.5%ABV:
A full-bodied stout-like dark mild,excellent head
retention, with fruit and nut flavours on the palate.
The eponymous dog survived the rough seas off Hunstanton,
his master the Revd Doble of Hathern drowning with
his wife Violet in an attempted rescue. The double
tragedy rocked the village and is commemorated by
a brass plaque in the church.

Cockfighter:
4.2% ABV:
A pale bitter with a pronounced maltiness offset by
a delicate hop flavour. Cockfighting was one of the
"sports" in the church yard giving rise
to the "wicked" epithet. An area on the
outskirts of the village, Hathern Turn near the King's
Arms, was the scene of many challenge contests and
Daniel Lambert undoubtedly visited here before he
reached his legendary weight of 53 stones.

ALBION
SPECIAL
Brewed
exclusively as a cask conditioned beer for the Albion
Inn, Loughborough, this well-balanced bitter has
an OG of 1041 and an ABV of 4.0%. It is light copper
in colour with a nutty aroma and a smoky malty taste,
the Fuggles and Golding hops leading through.

DERBY
PORTER: OG 1048, 4.8% ABV:
Brewed originally for Derby CAMRA's 25th Beer Festival,
this rich, dark, traditional porter uses an old Scottish
recipe. It has a slightly fruity aroma. The substantial
aftertaste is of impressive length, with complex flavours
including chocolate and liquorice.

GLADSTONE
TIDINGS: OG 1050, 5.1% ABV:
A dark bitter having a deep rounded finish with a
strong hop presence and a rich full taste. Available
only pre- Christmas.

SWIFT
'UN , OG 1048,4.8%
ABV:
A pale, mellow beer brewed with lager malt, Swift
'Un is named for the local sock factory, AJ Swift,
and derives from the local phrase "I'll just
have a swift 'un
