Wicked Hathern Brewery was launched in the first month of the millennium. A two-barrel microbrewery, it is owned and operated by John Bagley, his son Marc, John Worsfold and his son-in-law Sean O'Neill.

During our first few years, we have established ourselves locally as a guest beer and bottle our whole range for sale in the local shop and other outlets. We have appeared at many CAMRA and other Beer Festivals including the Great British Beer Festival in London and have brewed specials for the Derby Beer Festival.

In 2006, one of our beers, Earl of Harrington, won the first prize in the Bitter category at the Leicester Beer Festival.

In 2007, John and Marc Bagley ceased to have an involvement with Wicked Hathern Brewery, and the operation moved to Oakley Grange Organic Farm in Hathern.

The name is inspired by comments made by a 19th century clergyman, the Revd Edward Thomas March Philips, Rector of Hathern from 1808 for 51 years. Fed up with the cock fighting and drunken brawls in the graveyard, he referred to Hathern as “a barbaric place and a cage for every unclean beast”. The village has been known locally as Wicked Hathern ever since.

All beers can be bought in bottles, subject to availability, from Hathern Stores, Cross Street, Hathern and other outlets. See Bottled Beers.
